Hi there,

Happy holidays! I hope you're enjoying the holiday hustle and bustle, and having fun with family and friends.

Today I'm sharing an ezine that I first wrote in December 2009, right after the death of my beloved cat Troy. He was a spirit guide or angel for me. In the article, I reflect on what he had to teach me.

As an update on this ezine: Troy died on December 19, 2009, and much against my wishes, my family gave me a 6-month old kitten just a few days later, for Christmas. I was convinced that I needed more time to grieve and I wasn't ready for another cat. About 48 hours later, I was in love with this athletic kitten, who was a ball of energy and constantly in motion. I named him Dash, after the son in the movie The Incredibles. Dash's superpower is speed.

I'm sharing a few photos of Dash "helping" me at work.

I've "owned" many cats (it's more of a joint living arrangement than owning ). Some were regular cats; some were special. Troy was one of the special ones and Dash is also.

If you have a "special" pet in your life, I'd love to hear your story. Drop me a line at success@marcystahl.com.

Best wishes for your holiday season!

Marcy

My Angel Story

This Christmas season, you may be watching "It's a Wonderful Life". In it, Clarence the angel shows up out of the blue, to save the life of George Bailey, Jimmy Stewart's character.

George is trying to commit suicide because he believes that everyone would be better off if he were dead. Clarence sticks with George until George has learned his lesson -- that his presence, his choices, his existence touched many lives and made his town a better place. His family and friends need him.

Once George sees that, Clarence's work is over. He has earned his angel wings, and he disappears.

In 2009, I was visited by my own personal angel or spirit guide, who came into my life out of nowhere, and left just as suddenly.

That was my cat, Troy.

When I adopted him in January, he was very skittish and so nervous about how I would treat him. He spent the first two weeks under the bed, full-time. Then he came out but needed to maintain a safe distance of about 10 feet away from me at all times.

Fast forward to December, when he was cuddled beside me on the sofa for hours, alternating between encouraging me to pet him and dozing. He had come a long, long way!

One December night at 10:45pm, he became sick very suddenly. I rushed him to the emergency vet, through the beginning of a blizzard. He had a blood clot that paralyzed his rear legs and was causing him tremendous pain. He was also in congestive heart failure.

Three hours later, I came back home without him. The vet couldn't save him and he was in so much pain that the humane choice was to euthanize him.

I missed him a lot! For weeks afterward, every time I opened the front door, I expected to see his little face. Every stray bit of cat hair floating around reminded me of him.

I'm still coping with the sadness his absence brings.

What comforts me is the belief that he was here to teach me a lesson. Once I learned that lesson, his work here was over, and he was gone.

It's no coincidence his last week on Earth was an amazing week for me, with a huge mindset shift on Thursday, in which I stepped forward into playing a bigger game in my business and really becoming my authentic self.

Thirty hours later, he was gone.

From the beginning of my time with him, I was convinced he was in my life for a specific reason. Along the way, I thought it was to teach me how to live in the now (all animals excel at that!) and how to ask for what I want.

In retrospect, I see that the even bigger reason was to open up my heart more and more. My cat-owner friends reassure me that losses like this just make your heart bigger and stronger.

I had a lesson (or maybe, several) to learn from him and he had something to learn from me. He learned to trust me: that I'd take care of him, love him, and he'd always be safe with me. I learned patience and how to love him. He was a steady role model for me of how to live in the now, to sleep when you're tired, and ask for love when you need it.

This year, when I'm watching Clarence, I'll be thinking of Troy.

CALL TO ACTION

Whew! I always cry a bit whenever I re-read this story. While it is a story about loss, it's also a story about growth. Troy helped me grow. And whenever I grow, my business also grows.

One of my favorite self-help experts, Dr. Pat Pearson, recently said on a call for direct sellers that every time you grow as a person, your income will go up by $25,000.

As I consistently share with you, there is a direct link between who you are, what happens in your business, and your income.

If you're ready to expand into an ever-more authentic you, if you're ready to release some obstacles that have held you back, then consider starting off January with a huge dose of mindset support AND practical training.

Check out marcystahl.com/expand-directsellers.html. This 10-week group program is designed specifically to help Business Building solopreneurs and direct sellers create a strong foundation with consistent income. Not sure whether this is right for you? Just send me an email at success@marcystahl.com. I'm happy to discuss your questions and concerns and share other options.

Testimonial from a recent participant in this program

"One word: Outstanding! This is the word I feel best describes Marcy’s program.

When I first met Marcy, I was very enthusiastic about my new business in direct sales. I was on a roll my first 2 months in the business and then I hit a road block. No bookings…for almost 3 months.

Within 30 days of joining Marcy’s program, my calendar was full of booked parties for the next 3 months! During this process I have become comfortable with my presentation and am able to finally enjoy myself at my parties instead of worrying about the outcome.

Marcy has helped me feel confident that it is possible for me to succeed. She has done this by consistently focusing on the positive when problem solving. Plus, because Marcy has such a mild, easy-going temperament it is extremely easy to let your guard down and be yourself. This allows the recipient (me and you) to receive constructive criticism without the fear of being judged or apprehended. She has given me the instruction manual to my business!

Thank you Marcy Stahl!"
